Taylor is Out of Miami
Jason Taylor is finally leaving Miami.
The Pro Bowl Defensive End has been traded to the Washington Redskins for a second round draft pick in 2009 and a sixth round pick in 2010.
Taylor told the ‘Skins that he did not need to reconfigure his contract and that he would be glad to play the final two years of his current contract in Washington.
The ‘Skins already had a strong defense and now with the acquisition of Taylor it becomes even better.
The trade for Taylor was made possible by the team losing defensive end Phillip Daniels for the season due to an injury.
Taylor had been asking the Dolphins for a trade to a playoff contending team for the past couple of months and many thought that once he was still a Dolphin after the draft that he wouldn’t be traded before training camp.
That all changed once Daniels hurt himself at practice on Sunday in 7-on-7 drills. He is expected to have surgery this week. Daniels suffered a torn ACL.
Taylor is expected to report to Redskins camp on Monday.
