Sheets Will Pitch

Published by hcbb10 at 10:21 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

The Milwaukee Brewers have announced that right handed pitcher Ben Sheets will start on Saturday for the Brewers against the Chicago Cubs.

Sheets missed his last start due to a sore elbow and removed himself from a start on September 17 against the Cubs for the same reason.

Sheets is in the final season of his contract with Milwaukee and will be a free agent at the end of the 2008 season.

He and C.C. Sabathia are trying their hardest to get the Brewers to the playoffs for the first time since 1982.

Sheets has had arm troubles all throughout his career, which has been spent entirely in Milwaukee.

His Major League career began in 2001. He has an 86-82 record through 220 games started with a 3.71 ERA. He has tallied 1,205 career strikeouts and has walked only 311 hitters.

Sheets missed significant time in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

Sheets will be relied on to start the biggest game of his career on Saturday against the NL Central Cubs as they fight with the Mets for the NL Wild Card spot.

If Sheets can keep the game close and wait for the Brewers offense to wake up then he can help this team get closer to the playoffs.
