Bedard’s Surgery a Success
Seattle lefty Erik Bedard had successful surgery on his left shoulder earlier this week.
The lefty was acquired in an off-season trade before the 2008 season from the Baltimore Orioles for lefty reliever George Sherrill, outfielder Adam JonesĀ and three other prospects.
Doctor Lewis Yocum removed a cyst and some tissue from the labrum of Bedard’s pitching shoulder.
A post-surgery examination and report revealed yesterday that there is no structural damage to the shoulder and that Bedard should be ready to pitch come the 2009 season.
The blockbuster trade between the M’s and the O’s did not affect either team’s playoff chances as the M’s will finish with well over 100 losses and the O’s will finish with over 90 losses on the season.
