Flacco is the Guy
Audubon, NJ native and University of Delaware product Joe Flacco has been named the Baltimore Ravens starter at quarterback for the remainder of the 2008 season.
Flacco is in his rookie season in the NFL and most recently threw his first NFL touchdown pass against the Pittsburgh Steelers in a tough luck loss on a Monday night.
Flacco replaced former Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith as starting QB before the season started because Smith was being bothered by a severe tonsil infection.
The infection had Smith sidelined since training camp; where Flacco began to make a name for himself.
Head coach John Harbaugh made the announcement on Thursday, when Smith rejoined the team from his illness.
Harbaugh is in his first season as head coach of the Ravens and this is his first head coaching job in the NFL after spending time as the Eagles Special Teams Coordinator and Secondary coach.
