Yankees Resign Marte
The New York Yankees announced on Wednesday that they had resigned left handed reliever Damaso Marte.
Marte was acquired in a midseason trade with the Pittsburgh Pirates along with Xavier Nady for Jeff Karstens and three other players.
Marte was resigned on Wednesday to a three year deal worth $12 million and the deal includes a club option for 2012.
Marte did not post excellent numbers with the Yankees, going 1-3 with an unimpressive 5.40 ERA in 25 games. He was 5-3 with a 4.02 ERA with both the Yankees and Pirates.
The Yankees had originally declined Marte’s $6 million team option for the 2009 season by choosing to buyout the option for $250,000.
