Brees Named Offensive Player of the Year
The New Orleans Saints have their first ever AP Offensive Player of the Year.
Drew Brees was named the league’s Offensive Player of the Year on Tuesday by the Associated Press after becoming only the second quarterback in league history to throw for over 5,000 yards in one season.
Brees fell 15 yards shy of tying Dan Marino’s single season mark for yards thrown in one season and his Saints missed the playoffs with an 8-8 record.
Brees said his offensive line and skill players on offense were ten times more disappointed that he didn’t break the record than he was.
Brees threw 34 touchdown passes in 2008, tying former Chargers teammate Phillip Rivers for the league lead.
Brees led the league in completions with 413.
